Technical Challenge
Injecting a large-dimension ABS cube with uniform wall thickness and flawless surface appearance is a significant challenge. Right angles concentrate shrinkage stress, creating risks of sink marks and warpage. Our solution: a hot runner mould with conformal cooling, eliminating deformation and ensuring a stable cycle.
The required surface finish — Class A high gloss — demands mirror polishing (SPI A1) of every cavity face and strict melt temperature control (235°C ±2°C) to prevent flow marks.
Material Properties
High-gloss ABS (Novodur H801) was selected for its unique combination of impact resistance (critical for ice contact), colour versatility, and naturally glossy surface that reduces post-processing costs. ABS resists repeated contact with water, ice, and cleaning products. EU 10/2011 food contact compliant.
Customisation and Branding
Available in any RAL or Pantone colour. Marking options: permanent laser engraving (wash-resistant), multi-colour pad printing, or IML (In-Mould Labelling) decorative film for photorealistic visuals.
